THEATRE GAME: PAPER BALL

Description

This is a fun game used to cultivate teamwork while warming up physically and vocally.

Players

Minimum number of players: At least 5

Maximum number of players: No more than 20

Materials

2 pieces of scrap paper balled together tightly

Space Required

Instructions

Have the students stand in a circle a little less than arm’s length apart.  They will hit the ball with the palm of their hands across the circle as many times as possible.  The group will count out loud every time the ball is hit.  The object is to get to the highest number possible.

Rules: When any of these rules are broken the ball is stopped and the count is reset to zero.

1) The ball cannot touch the ground.

2) No student can hit the ball twice in a row.

3) The entire group must count out loud together every time the ball is hit.

4) No negativity.  No apologizing for missing the ball.  The worst thing that can ever happen in this game is a piece of paper falling on the ground.

Helpful Hints:

Always maintain the circle.  If a student backs up out of the circle or comes into the circle to get the ball, encourage them to return to their original position as soon as possible.

If the ball seems to be falling into the middle of the circle, encourage the students to call it.
