Instructions

Two or three actors begin an improvisation with a given Who, Where and What. As the scene develops the teacher calls out a flashback to an earlier time. Other actors quickly assume characters and play out the flashback. The teacher then calls out "flash forward" and the original scene continues.

Example: A couple at a marriage counselor. As the scene develops the wife says, "My mother told me not to marry you." The teacher calls out, "Flashback to their wedding day." The marriage counselor exits, while other actors assume the characters of the mother and other members of the wedding party. As the scene wraps up, the teacher calls out, "Flash forward," the other actors exit, the counselor returns, and the scene continues.
