Description
Students will understand and apply the concepts of impromptu storytelling and improving their improvisational skills by perfomring a well known fairy tale in one minute flat.
Materials
Space Required
Standard RoomInstructions
1) Divide students into groups of at least three (four/five is ideal).
3) Allow each group to choose a fairy tale and act it out.
~ Even though they are trying to complete the entire taile in a very short amount of time, they should still create funny, creative characters and establish a setting and conflict.
- If the 60 seconds go well, repeat them in 30 seconds and then 10 seconds. At this point, the students are just having a good time while staying in character and thinking about the "basic" plot line.
Adaptations
Great choices are:
- Snow White
- Rumplestilzkin
- The Little Mermaid
- Hansel and Gretel
- Sleeping Beauty
- Little Red Riding Hood
If the popular fairy tales run out, feel free to try some of Aesop fables:
- Tortoise and the Hare
- The Mouse and the Lion
- The Fox and the Crow
- The Boy who Cried Wolf
