Bio

I have only been teaching theatre since the fall of 2009.  Before teaching theatre I was an English teacher for four years, but heavily involved in my community theatre.  I was in my first real play in the summer of 2007 to 'pass the time' since it was my first year teaching and I wasn't quite sure what to do with all the time off over the summer. I very quickly fell in love and have been in about 13 shows since then and directed 5.  I started my college career as a music major and somehow ended up teaching English.  From there I merged into the theatre world (which I am LOVING), I'm a few classes shy of earning my graduate degree in Writing and since I have never had any formal training in theatre I would love to someday go back for a second degree in the theatre arts.  I'm learning as I go, but I'm a great listener and an even better copy cat!


Educational Background

My undergraduate degree is in General Studies from West Texas A & M, I went back to school shortly after to get my teaching license and I am currently finishing up my MAIS degree from Western New Mexico University.

Interests

Of course, I am a huge fan of the theatre and I love passing on my passion to my students. I LOVE musicals, I began as a singer and my heart still beats for it. Although since becoming a full time theatre teacher I have had less time to be in shows myself, I do arrange to be in one show a year (at least) at my community theatre. My last show was "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!" I am learning about building sets, it is a slow and scary process but I am proud of the advancements I have made in the last year. Besides theatre, I love to write which is why I am doing graduate studies in writing. I also enjoy cooking. I'm not very good at cooking, but someday I'd like to take a cooking class to see if I can hone my skills a bit.
