Bio

My Name is Carrie Alexander Spina and I am the Director of Outreach and Education at the Players Guild Theatre in Canton Ohio. I have outreached to over 20,000 students since 2006 with my touring production Page to Stage, to local elemetary schools and events. I also have a very sucsessful summer theatre workshop held at our theatre every summer. I teach afterschool classes in the schools alongside my 8 wonderful teaching artist. I also teach classes at the Players Guild theatre through - out the year. I have developed a toddler class called Tiny Tot Theatre that starts at age 2, parents are welcome to participate as we sing, dance and learn how to take thier places on stage. Outreaching Theatre to children and students of all ages is my passion! I love to act and teach my students how to make every moment beliveable and natural on stage!!!! Theatre gave me confidence and the ability to dream, I strive to pass that along to every student that crosses my path<3

Educational Background

I am a graduate of Canton South high School, where I recieved the Speech award and went to the state competition 4 years in a row and placeing 3rd in the state of Ohio my senior year in Dramatic interpt. I also went to the national tournament my 11th and 12th grade year where I placed 13th in the nation in Dramtic interpt. I was scouted by Hildleburg to major in Theatre and communications and offered $40,000 for my schooling. I however not understanding what I was doing at the time turned it down. I continued to go to my local theatre and perform before I got married and had three children. As my children became old enough to audition we all auditioned for local theatre and became very involved- this evolved to me becoming the director of outreach and now after many students, classes and workshops- I have now just this month been hired as the Director of Education. I will be taking classes and workshops to further my education, but have worked very hard learning on my own from, directors, teaching artist and professionals and have worked my way to an administrative position from hard work and dedication in my craft! I am excited to continue my education in theater and the arts and hungry to learn as much as I can in the future. I am a 36 year old proud mother of three and would'nt change a thing and can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.....
