Bio
I have been teaching drama in the Lexington Public Schools since 1994. In 1997 and 1998, my students and I were the United States representative at the Provincial Festival at the University of New Brunswick, Canada. In 2000, we represented the USA at the World Festival of Children’s Theater in Toyama City, Japan. The following year, I was a delegate to the Congress of the International Theatre Association in Monaco where I was an advocate for Children and Youth theatre from the United States. That same year, I was one of two middle school drama teachers from around the country chosen to travel to China to study theatre. In 2004, I was the featured speaker at the Middle School Drama Teachers’ Conference sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association. I have studied theatre, attended festivals or presented workshops in China, Japan, Monaco, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Austria, as well as all over the USA.
I was instrumental in the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild developing a middle school division to their program, where I held the position of President of the Middle School council for 6 years. I also developed the judging rubric for both the middle school festival and the costume design competition.
I wrote the Massachusetts Educator Licensure Exam for theatre for the Massachusetts Department of Education. My book, Acting in Stages, is used by drama teachers all over the country.
